شكا الطلاب اليمنيون الدارسون في كندا من ما -وصفوه- بسوء معاملة وزارة التعليم العالي، وتوقيف المنح الدراسية على أكثر من نصف عددهم دون أي سبب، أو بلاغ مسبق لهم.
وقال الطلاب في رسالة وجهوها لرئيس الجمهورية عبر "مأرب برس" أنهم في أمس الحاجة لتسديد الرسوم الدراسية لفصل الخريف لتسمح لهم الجامعات الكندية بالتسجيل لفصل الشتاء، مشيرين إلى أنه تم الصرف للبعض وإيقاف المنح علي البعض الآخر. وأضافت الرسالة، أن دراسة فصل الشتاء قد بدأت في 4 يناير 2010م ،وأن قطع المنح أوقف الطلاب عن الدراسة لفصل الشتاء ،وهم الآن مشردون من دون سكن لعدم سداد الإيجارات.
وأوضحوا، أن رسالتهم هذه تأتي بعد أن فشلت السفارة ،وفشلت مساعي الطلاب في إعادة مستحقاتهم بمتابعة أولياء الأمور في اليمن، أو مناشدتهم في رسالة وجهوها إلى رئيس الوزراء للتدخل العاجل لحل مشكلتهم:
