سادت حالة من السخط بين الأئمة وخطباء المساجد، بسبب قرار وزير الأوقاف المصري الدكتور محمود حمدي زقزوق، بوضع كاميرات مراقبة في كل المساجد، على أن توضع على أسقفها، ويتم متابعتها من خلال شبكة الانترنت.
نائب وزير الأوقاف لشؤون الدعوة الشيخ شوقي عبداللطيف دافع عن مراقبة المساجد في مداخلة هاتفية مع أحد البرامج التلفزيونية، قائلاً: الأمر لا يحتمل ضجة فهو مجرد تطوير وتحديث للمساجد في اطار توجيهات الرئيس مبارك، خاصة في المساجد التي يوجد بها صناديق تبرعات ونذور، وأن الهدف من هذه الكاميرات هو عملية تنظيمية، خاصة في الليل عند إغلاق المساجد، خشية أن يحدث شيء، نافياً أن تكون الكاميرات قد وضعت لمراقبة بعض الأشخاص قائلاً: هذا المشروع لا علاقة له بوزارة الداخلية، فقد تم بموافقة وزارة الأوقاف ، بحسب ما نشرت جريدة القبس الكويتية.

لا حول و لا قوة الا بالله
عندهم حق من جهة و من جهة اخرى لا ,
عندهم حق بمراقبة من يستغل الاسلام كسلاح مدمر , يدمر فقط شعبه و دينه .
و ليس عندهم حق بمراقبة جميع الجوامع , اما ان يمنعو الصلاوات مثل تونس واما يمنعو استخدام منابر المساجد ساحة لعروضاتهم السياسية .
يا اخي فواد , نحن الشعب العربي شعب مضلوم و مسكين . همنا الاول و الاخير هو ديننا و فلسطين , و لكن عندما تراجع اخر الاخبار تجد من طلع اي مكان يتكلم و يقول فلسطين , نبدء من ايران وننتهي بامريكا
يا اخي فلسطين و الاسلام اصبحو فقط و سيلة للوصل الى قلوب الناس . نفس هذه السياسة تم تطبيقها في صعدة مع الحوثيين .
انا اقترح على الحكومة المصرية منع استخدام منابر الصلاة للاغراض السياسية و الشخصية , و يدعو عباد الله يتعبدو بخشوع و امان .

يا اخي اصبحت اغلب المنابر تستخدم لاغراض سياسيه والتاثير على عقول الناس باسم الاسلام واكبر مثال على ذلك جماعه الحوثيين في اليمن خليهم يراقبو الجوامع طالما انه مافيش حاجه الواحد ممكن يخفيها عن المراقبه
